The course offers an intensive and operative learning of the Multiple Code Theory by Wilma Bucci (1997) and of the Italian version of the computerized measures of the Referential Process. It is aimed at students, researchers, clinical psychologists and psychotherapists interested in the reconceptualization, clinically and empirically founded, of the psychoanalytic theory. The central hypothesis of the theory is that our experience of the world is coded by us in different and multiple systems (symbolic and non symbolic, verbal and non verbal) that are not completely connected and integrated with each other. Through the Referential Process we can improve the bidirectional connection between all non-verbal modalities of the experience – imagery, emotions, body sensations… - and the language. Therefore the “talking cure” enables us to connect not only the patient and analyst subjectivities but also the multiple systems in which they encode the experience. In this sense the psychotherapeutic change is an embodied, contextual and relational process. At the end of the course participants will became familiar with the theory by Bucci, thanks also to some exercises and clinical examples (unit I); they will be able to use the program for the computerized coding of the texts that allows to detect various linguistic properties, including the Referential Activity and its changes in the Referential Process (unit II); participants will be also able to contextualize and use the theory and the coding indexes in the everyday clinical practice and in the supervision (unit III); they could meet Wilma Bucci, Bernard Maskit, the developer of the WRAD and DAAP software in both English and Italian, and the Italian clinicians and researchers interested in this clinical and research approach (unit IV). In the 3rd and 4th units, taught by Bucci and Maskit, consecutive translation will be provided. Participants are asked to bring their own notebook to install the coding software. At the end of the course, participants will receive a certificate of attendance. COSTS FOR THE FIRST THREE UNITS AND REGISTRATION
